Study Day for FOM Trainees - Occupational Lung Diseases - All You Ever Wanted to Know

8 March, 2016

On 8 March, we were delighted to run an OLD Study Day entitled ‘Occupational Lung Diseases: All You Ever Wanted to Know’ for FOM Trainees in Occupational Medicine.  This was presented by Paul Cullinan, Jo Szram, Jo Feary and Sara De Matteis, and very kindly hosted by the National School of Occupational Health at Senate House (University of London) in London WC1.  28 Trainees and GPs/Physicians working in Occupational Medicine attended.

A range of topics was covered, including an overview of our Clinic services (plus some fascinating cases – which the delegates found particularly useful!), occ asthma, short and long latency diseases, inhalation injuries, occ respiratory carcinogens, pneumoconiosis, health surveillance; and a brief run-through of SPIROLA.

We had some very interesting discussions, and felt the delegates thought this was a highly useful and enjoyable day.  Comments at the end of the day included: “A really useful set of lectures and efficient use of a day out of the office” and “Really good recap for Diploma exam.  Also lots of new and interesting stuff”. Another delegate contacted us afterwards: “Just writing this email to congratulate and thank you for the excellent organisation and course content. Really great job and fellow trainees have said the same.”
